Meet C & J Traders!

C & J Traders is locally owned and operated by Ernest and Kim Ortiz. We started our business in 2003, selling and trading used trailers and alfalfa hay. Since then, we have increased our trailer inventory by investing in well built, but economically priced trailers built by CM Trailers, WW Trailers, GR Norte Trailers, and C & M Trailers. We also sell livestock equipment manufactured by Arrowquip, Filson and WW, giving the customer the safest and most innovative way to work cattle. Today, C & J Traders is the largest truck bed dealer in the state of NM, providing CM, Crownline and J & I Truck Beds. We have traveled to the manufacturers' plants to see and learn about their products. We see the quality and the workmanship and share in the pride of a well-made product. Understanding the equipment helps ensure the customer is purchasing what will work for them and their individualized operation. Knowing the manufacturers helps create a bond and sense of dependability for us and you, the customer. Attending seminars on Sales, Service and Success has helped increase our knowledge and business. Continuing Education courses with the Motor Vehicle Department help make trailer sales and transactions less painful for buyers. We pride ourselves on being true to our word, and standing behind our word and products. 

We have been around animals our whole life. Ernest, raised on a ranch, is familiar with the cattle industry and what cattlemen need to run cattle. He went to school to learn pregnancy testing and how to artificially inseminate cattle. He has a certificate of Horse Dentistry as well. Prior to C & J Traders, he was a farrier for 23 years. He had over 280 clients that he kept on a regular schedule, working closely with veterinarians and horse owners to ensure the well-being of all their horses. He understands horses as a true cowboy does. 

Kim graduated from UNM with a degree in Education and taught at Moriarty Elementary before having their children Jessica, Caleb and Caycee Jo. Today, we run a small cattle operation east of Moriarty. Our kids grew up riding and competing with their horses. Local rodeos, horse shows and ranch life taught our kids the love and trust that exists between horse and rider. Once again, our personal experiences with cattle and horses make us all better salesmen on livestock equipment, feed and pet care.
